Natchez Golf Club at Duncan Park wins Historic Natchez Foundation Award of Special Merit Award
Natchez Golf Club at Duncan, Natchez, MS
The Historic Natchez Foundation held its annual meeting on January 15th and gave out the annual preservation awards. We will highlight the award winners over the next few days. The City of Natchez received a Special Merit Award for the Natchez Golf Club at Duncan Park. This Mississippi Landmark was constructed in 1948 as a Naval Reserve Armory and has served a variety of uses. It served members of the Naval Reserve with radio, electrical, woodworking, metalworking, and hobby shops until 1971, when it became home to a campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. The building has survived relatively intact and the city has transformed it into a world class clubhouse for the Duncan Park golf course.
