The Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley Memorialization Project wins the MSU Spirit Award
The Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley Memorialization Project
The Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley Memorialization Project has been awarded the ‘Spirit of State Award’ at the SARC Alumni Awards, hosted by Mississippi State University. Physical expressions may be rich in history and meaning, communicating stories that tell us about ourselves and help us deepen understandings. Architecture that is able to engage in this is profoundly impactful. This award, called “Spirit of State,” recognizes this project for its ability to tell the story of Emmett Till. The jury noted that “this project is important to the state and the nation, and the level of care with which the renovation was carried out and the subsequent projects engaged is a demonstration of architects at their best.”
