Old Main Academic Center
This new facility, located on the vacant site, just north of the YMCA Building and George Hall at Mississippi State, will accommodate parking on the lower levels and academic classrooms and associated spaces on the upper levels. The building will provide needed academic classroom space and take advantage of site topography to provide needed parking to service the student union, cafeteria, and functions in Lee Hall. Street modifications, site work and hardscaping will be required to meet the increased capacity of pedestrians and vehicles around the site. The classroom levels, located above the parking levels, will accommodate the teaching & learning requirements for approximately 2000 students and associated faculty/staff with multiple sizes of classroom space, from small to large. The building is to be appropriately outfitted with modern instructional technology, energy-efficient lighting, and energy management control systems, bettering ASHRAE 90.1 by 30%.
