Retreat for Marcus Riley
The Owner, a funeral director who lives in an apartment in a nearby town, desired a quiet serene retreat to use on his two days per week away from work. He requested a small, simple structure that would be easy to maintain and efficient. On family land overlooking a large cultivated valley and wooded hills, we designed a small house constructed of simple durable materials including split-face block exterior, wood shake roofing, double glazed metal clad windows, quarry tile floors, painted tongue & groove wood walls and ceilings, underground water-source heat pump and well insulated walls and ceilings. The house is sited in a small natural clearing facing southeast from the summit of a grassy hill. The house contains 888 sq.ft.
