Strand Theater
The Strand Theater was constructed around 1929 and operated as a theater/auditorium. The city had an Existing Facilities Analysis and Report conducted by BSA in October 2008. It was found that the building was in good condition, however requiring some repairs and upgrades. The first phase of work includes the replacement of the roof and restoration of the front façade to include masonry restoration, wood window replications, replication/replacement of the vertical marquee, replacement of the canopy structure, new storefront door and metal panel systems, restoration of the glass block and the refurbishing of a ticket booth from the 1950s. This phase of work for the Strand Theater project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Legislature through the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency.
